Who am I?

ONE QUESTION
What is your definition of success if Money or Titles weren’t part of the equation?
ONE THING TO PONDER
General ambition gives you anxiety, specific ambition gives you direction.
ONE PERSPECTIVE
I’ll start this one off with ‘If you already know who you are at your core, then carry on.’
I’ve been very clear on who I am in life and also and at times painfully unclear. That is one of the hardest struggles and also one of the biggest blessings you can have.

Sometimes we choose to be the same version of ourselves just because life has shown up in a way that has become monotonous.
Life gets busy, and we keep adding responsibilities that eat up every bit of quiet time that we have, while not really paying attention to growing ourselves into the best version we can be.
And when that happens over months and years, you start to wonder how you ended up where you are and who you’re being. And oftentimes the byproduct of that is chasing things and titles that make you miserable.
Sometimes life has a way of giving you challenges and circumstances that will keep showing up until you get the message.
I don’t believe in coincidence.
What I do believe is that every situation and circumstance, good or bad, is there to teach us something about ourselves.
Sometimes it’s a reassurance that you’re on the right path, and other times it’s like a mack truck that finally wakes you up.
Those mack trucks hurt. They have the tendency to strip any sense of certainty away from you.
We all like certainty, but the truth is that things are never certain. There are moments in your life where things will feel certain and other moments there is no way of predicting how things will play out.
The one thing I do believe to be true is that the hardest times will test your belief of what you know about yourself and who you are. If you’ve lost your way, that’s ok.
Honesty is the conduit to stronger relationships with yourself and with others. It doesn’t make it easier, but honesty with yourself and others is absolutely a part of the path through.
It seems easy to lose who we are in the pursuit of protecting other people. The wisdom comes from your ability to protect those closest to you and also not lose who you are in the process.
That protection looks a lot of different ways. It could be emotional protection, it could be protection in the form of providing, it could mean a lot of things.
That protection can’t come at the expense of who you are. That requires a delicate dance and strong relationships.
I’ve experienced this both personally and professionally. As difficult as it is, I’ve accepted this is part of growing and developing wisdom.
None of what I’ve shared is earth shattering, but avoiding being the true version of yourself can be.
Onward and upward!
