When Life Speaks: Lessons and Wisdom from ‘24

Weekly Leadership Insights with Jake Luehrs

ONE QUESTION

Do you ever think about what you think about?

ONE THING TO PONDER

Sometimes your next level of life isn’t achievement, it’s about finding alignment.

ONE PERSPECTIVE - 25 TRUTHS FROM ‘24

My philosophy and perspective on leadership is about developing better humans, not just better businesses. What I believe to be true is that when we develop ourselves, our lives and businesses improve as a consequence.

ON SELF LEADERSHIP

The soul would rather fail at its own life than succeed at someone else’s. True success comes from authenticity. Your soul yearns to succeed on its own terms, not by imitating others.

Better questions lead to better answers, better answers lead to a better life.

I can’t be a person that wants change yet not be willing to change.

Setting boundaries requires you to be ok with the consequences of those boundaries.

Without love for myself, nothing else matters.

With love for myself, nothing else matters.

ON MINDSET AND AWARENESS

It’s really hard to be happy when you’re constantly wanting things to be different.

Resentment is created by unmet needs. If you’re resentful, look in the mirror and identify which boundaries you didn’t communicate.

No pessimist ever discovers what is possible or what their potential is.

The height of growth and achievement are about how well you face challenges.

Fear is a mile wide and an inch deep.

ON MONEY

I see a lot of people chasing wealth over a better life not because they are greedy, but because they are afraid to be judged to live a different lifestyle.

Our relationship with wealth ultimately reveals deeper truths:

  • Some see it as a tool.

  • Some see it as their value or self worth

  • Some see it as evil

  • You choose.

ON HARD TRUTHS

The toughest mornings sober are still better than the smallest hangovers.

Stop confusing hard work with being productive.

You’re not tired, you’re just disinterested or disengaged.

Nothing creates more stress than the desire to avoid stress. Until you understand that life is demanding, you can’t begin living.

Emotional pain and trauma has more endurance than your strength to push it down. It will hang out until you’re done fooling yourself that you’ve addressed it.

ON MOVING FORWARD

Never doubt your ability, question your commitment.

Convenience and greatness cannot co-exist. You have a choice.

The seed of entitlement is planted the second you believe you deserve something without earning it.

If your desire to be recognized is greater than your desire for feedback, your growth journey will be stunted.

God has his plan, my job is to be a good steward along the way.

Anything that you’re not willing to let go of or accept is the very thing keeping you trapped.

Make Change That Lasts: Break Free From Bad Habits & Transform Your Life For Good With Dr. Rangan Chatterjee

The Rich Roll Podcast

This was a phenomenal listen. Not just about goals and habits, but about understanding that oftentimes we aren’t actually the reason we quit our habits, it’s that the habits weren’t properly decided on with a strong foundation. Well worth the listen.

Necessary Endings
by Henry Cloud

We are very good at stacking things and perpetuating things and habits that may no longer serve us, but also we don’t choose to stop doing. There isn’t any room for new growth or opportunity if we keep our plate so full that there isn’t any additional room. We have to prune, eliminate and become more purposeful, and this book will help you and give you permission to let things, people and situations go.
