To The Ones That Carry Everything

Weekly Leadership Insights with Jake Luehrs

ONE QUESTION

Who would you be if you opened yourself up to the truth rather than protecting yourself with a lie?

ONE THING TO PONDER

How you relate to your resistance determines whether it becomes your enemy or your teacher.

ONE PERSPECTIVE

This one is for the warriors out there, taking everything on to the detriment of themselves.

You know who you are. You may have opened this newsletter because of the title…so you already know.

Strong. Resilient. Capable of shouldering more than most. It's your superpower….until it becomes your kryptonite.

Resilience and strength can be our biggest allies and most threatening enemies.

I say this with no arrogance, I'm strong and very resilient, I can carry a lot...it's been both a significant asset and a huge liability that has compounded over time.

Through, Not Around

The only path is through, not around.

The light we're seeking? It's on the other side of what we're avoiding.

That trigger you keep dismissing….

That emotional work you're "too strong" to need…

That pain you're white-knuckling your way around…

That shit isn’t going anywhere, it’s just hanging out long enough for you to look it in the eyes.

Don't avoid it, don't 'hack' your way around it, don't allow busyness to steal the path forward.

Busy is just avoidance wearing a productivity costume.

A Common Path Taken

Too often we confuse pain as a wall, but understand that it's actually your door to walk through.

I spent years…literal years trying to engineer my way around my deepest wounds. Different strategies. Better systems. More control.

I thought I was being…Smart. Strategic. Strong.

The Truth? I was just terrified.

Because here's the devastating truth: the only way out is through.

Resilience and strength are cornerstones of growth and evolving. And as with most things in life, a strength that is overused often becomes a weakness.

Having strength and the ability to endure more pain is a blessing and a curse.

You can carry more, which can be a positive thing.

You can carry more, which can lead to very dark places.

I'm convinced that avoidance only magnifies the deepest pains we aren't willing to face.

Pain has far more endurance than our resilience and strength ever will.

We can keep pushing it down, yet I’ve experienced it and seen it in many others that it will just wait for you until you're done with the mental gymnastics of avoidance.

The Path Forward

The true authenticity we seek and would like to experience happens when we willingly take on our challenges....it's light you never realized was there or existed.

This is your invitation to lean on people around you, be open with what you're working through. Then take responsibility to face it and feel it.

What internal challenges are you facing that you are trying to 'fix' by avoiding, stacking things on, resisting or pushing away?

Without thinking, you had an answer. That should be the thing you should face today.

This Is Your Permission Slip

You don't have to have it all figured out.

You don't have to be unbreakable.

You don't have to earn your worth through endurance.

But you do have to choose to walk through it.

I'll see you along the way!

Onward and upward!
