Open to Everything, Attached to Nothing

ONE QUESTION
Are you avoiding acknowledging something the truth that may hurt in order to feel better?
ONE THING TO PONDER
When you’re happy, you’re not compulsive. When you’re unhappy or in pain, you’ll make impulsive decisions to get out of that pain.
ONE PERSPECTIVE
Open to Everything, Attached to Nothing
There is so much wrapped up in that one sentence. I believe this world could use more of both of them.
Meaning, I believe we could be more open without getting offended and also be less attached, which allows for more joy! This is good for ourselves, it's good for families, it's good for communities, it's good for business....
I can obviously only speak for myself. Let's take the first one…
How much benefit would we have if we were more open to just listen, to understand, without first going to judgment? It would help with nearly every relationship we have in our life.
Just because we are open, doesn't mean we have to agree. And in fact, it would be a pretty bland place if everyone were to just agree.
Yet our simple commitment to stay attached to our perspective and viewpoint is detrimental to both our growth (both collectively and personally) and our relationships.
One thing that keeps showing up in my world is that the more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.
For those that already know everything, and you're convinced you know everything, and you're going to sell me on that belief, we should go on a 20 mile run together so you can get that all out of your system and I can be more informed:)
Ok, that was a little sarcastic, we can still have fun...lighten up.
Being closed minded and heavily attached serves our egos and protects us from being 'wrong'.
I believe it’s important for each of us to look for areas where we may be wrong or have something to learn. Because at that point, we can then think more critically to improve, rather than subconsciously defend whatever repetitive so-called truth I've held without even thinking about it.
And finally, it's ok to see things differently, to hold different viewpoints. We don't have to see things the same way for me to know you're a good person. Lets go be good people, to ourselves and to others....
Onward and upward

![]() | I really enjoyed this book. “In what ways are you making things harder for yourself?” This book offers some great insight and wisdom in how we can become more aware of the things that drive how we think. No external success can heal your mind. This book is great in pulling everything together! |
