Legacy is What You Leave IN People, Not FOR Them

Weekly Leadership Insights with Jake Luehrs

ONE QUESTION

Do you allow great moments in a day to last as long as the small challenging moments that you allow to ruin your whole day?

ONE THING TO PONDER

Many people talk to themselves in a prosecutor manner rather than a friendly manner.

ONE PERSPECTIVE

Our legacy is about how we live, not just about what we do or the money/materials we leave behind.

Don’t get it twisted.

It’s not any one monumental thing we do or accomplish. It’s the smallest impact we make on those around us every single day.

It's easy to get caught up in trying to 'validate' the legacy you want to leave with a title, what you've accomplished, how much money you made, I get it....Yet those external things are about you and your ego...not necessarily about the imprint you want to leave on others.

If you were to consider what you’d want to leave with the people you care about most, what would that be?

What do you want your kids to know and feel?

What do you want your family to remember and carry with them during their time here?

The amount of time we spend on pondering these questions will give us a compass on how we want to live and narrow in on what is most important.

We've gotten to a place where we want to influence millions, increase our social following to prove our popularity, all while not having our shit together personally. That's backwards.

I'd much rather see all of us have an impact on those closest to us than trying to impress people that we'll never meet. The latter happens when the former takes priority.

Don't live a small life, live a meaningful one.

Onward and upward!
