From Wounds to Wisdom

Weekly Leadership Insights with Jake Luehrs

ONE QUESTION

Are you managing your life or the fear you have about it?

ONE THING TO PONDER

We attract what we are not willing to face, not what we want.

ONE PERSPECTIVE

What if the thing you're desperately trying to escape is actually the path to everything you want?

I'm not asking you to be grateful for your pain and struggle, that actually can be toxic. Yet there is a gift in there.

I'm simply suggesting that it likely is serving a purpose in your life.

The person that you're becoming through the challenge and struggle isn't someone you could become any other way.

That thing you're struggling with right now?

The relationship that's falling apart...

The job that's crushing your soul...

The loss that's brought you to your knees...

What if it's not a wall, but a doorway?

We are all walking contradictions, and it's a messy walk. And it’s ok.

Oftentimes what we want most requires us to walk through what we fear most.

Nobody wants that answer, it just doesn't matter if you want it or not...accepting the truth is far better than mentally manipulating reality.

We want growth, while we swim in comfort...

We want to build strength, while we spend our time avoiding challenges...

We want patience, yet curse the very things that test it....

We want love, and expect safety...

We want to build character, while preferring an easy life...

It's interesting that many of the things we desire and believe to be virtuous require something in return.

We see all the upside, but we miss that the upside requires a price.

-Our resilience? Earned through every breakdown we survived.
-Our compassion? Carved out by our own wounds.
-Our wisdom? Paid for with every mistake that breaks us open.

These aren't participation trophies. They're simply scars that became superpowers.

Stop playing the victim to hard things happening, rather grab them with both hands and use them to become the person you desire to be.

It's a blessing to struggle.

The growth we crave simply lives on the other side of discomfort.

The strength we need is hiding in the challenges we're avoiding.

The character we admire is forged in the fire we're running from.

I’ll see you along the way!

Onward and Upward
